WET N WILD | PHOTOFOCUS FOUNDATION | REVIEW | WEAR TEST

Am I late to the party? I think I am late to the party. But well...sometimes it takes a holiday in Croatia to catch up on historically most viral makeup, right?

I was very surprised by the makeup selection in Croatia in general and I really enjoyed shopping there. Wet n Wild is a brand that always catches my attention because so many people love it and it's really affordable. I finally picked up the Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation and I couldn't be more excited about it.

So I wanted to order it online about a milion times but the swatches and the matching just always threw me off and then I thought that maybe I don't really need it anyway. But here as I stood right next to it I just had to pick it up. I have the shade Soft Ivory which is described as a light warm shade. It was about 150 Crowns which is a really fair price. The conversion is a little tricky but you can get it really cheap online anyway.

The foundation comes in a glass bottle with a weird applicator. It's a plastic paddle which just scoops the foundation. It's a little odd, but I don't mind it. You get 30ml which is a standard amount and it's also cruelty-free and vegan.

In total, this foundation comes in 21 shades which is not great but at least they are somewhat well distributed. According to the website it should have some kind of technology which prevents whitecast and it should be high performance to get that photoready finish for the whole day. Apparently they even tested it under multiple light sources to really make sure that it will look great no matter what lighting you have. That's really all that's written on the Wet n Wild website.

I found a czech retailer which also says that the foundation should be full coverage and longlasting. It also probaby has a matte finish. However, I don't know where that information comes from so let's not focus just on that.

I like that the shade description is written on the bottle itself so you don't have to rely on shady drugstore lights when purchasing. Light and warm that spoke right to me and it fits me really well. I don't mind the applicator but it fits the bottleneck really tight so my bottle gets dirty quite easily because it overflows all the time since I cannot place the applicator back into the bottle that perfectly. But that's just a little annoying.

Wear test

I wore this foundation for a whole day and to be honest it was a challenge. With all the restrictions still going on and with putting the mask on and off the whole day...it's rough to test a foundation. Obviously, it's going to slide off at places. Also, it's going to separate in places because you're breathing right in your own face.

Anyway, to the application. I used the applicator to place the foundation onto my face and then used my trusty fuzzy sponge from Juno & co. which worked really well. I would say the coverage is medium and the finish is semi-matte and natural. It's right up my alley when it comes to an everyday texture.

Everything blended on top really well, I used one of my favorite cream bronzers and a cream blush and I powdered my whole face as usual. Everything looked nice and smooth and none of the creams disrupted the foundation.

Wear time 12 hours

So, since there are still many rules around mask wearing in public and stuff like that, it's not easy to test a foundation. But I tried my best. I had the mask on and off for hours on my face and it's still really hot here so it's like testing the makeup in a sauna. Considering all this, the foundation looks pretty good. It's missing a couple patches here and there but that's mostly because of the mask. I appreciate that there's not a harsh line at the edge of these patches so it's not that noticable. There's some disruption happening on my forehead but I think that's mostly because I've been touching my face a lot. But again, it's not very noticable. If you look at me from a normal (6 feet hehe) distance, you wouldn't think I had the makeup on for 12 hours.

Final thoughts

I was pleasantly surprised by this foundation. I know people that love it and people that hate it and I'm glad I know where I stand. It's a really nice affordable foundation and if you're looking for something similar to the Physician's Formula Healthy foundation it's a good call. I'm talking natural finish, medium coverage, looking like skin, feeling light, looking smooth and great. Just a great everyday foundation.

I am happy to report that it wears well and it works so nicely with all the creams I wear. It also plays well with all the powders I've tried. Just a good keeper that works well with everything and looks nice. It's not super longwearing so I wouldn't really go past 10 hours if you really want to look super flawless. But it can stand a little longer and still look presentable. It went through a day in a mask with me which included a lot of sweating and it looked quite fine. So I am happy to recommend this foundation to you if you want a nice drugstore everyday foundation.

Have you tried this long-discussed gem? Let me know in the comments and thanks for reading!
