MAYBELLINE | FIT ME! MATTE + PORELESS FOUNDATION | REVIEW | WEAR TEST

I think majority of us remembers this oldie but a goodie from times, when foundations were all just 50 shades of orange. This was one of the few affordable ones out there and it did become a favorite of many people. Not me, but many people.

I was sent this foundation for testing by Maybelline and I am super gratefull for the oppoturnity to try out this foundation again after so many years. It now contains clay to fight even better against oily skin. My skin has been really oily since the summer started. It's probably the humidity and weather in general but also since I work from home a lot there's a lot more junk getting on my skin during the day. I touch my skin a lot and without makeup it might be even worse than with it.

The Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation Matte + Poreless retails for 139 Crowns and you can get it pretty much everywhere. It comes in 40 shades, however all of them are probably not available in Czechia. I have the shade 105 Natural Ivory, which looked fine in the pictures but in person it was a little darker than I expected. I also read some complaints online about inconsistency in Maybelline's foundation shades so mind that when purchasing a newer one. The shade you used to use may not be such a great match anymore.

According to Maybelline website this foundation is for normal to oily skin. It's a lightweight foundation that mattifies the skin, refines pores and leaves a natural seamless finish. It's also dermatologically tested and non-comedogenic. They also added clay into the formula to help with the oily skin and according to reviews, it looks like the coverage went slightly down compared to the original formula.

Now, I remember the original formula very well. I used to use that foundation all the time because it was the only foundation in the drugstore with a decent match for my pale face. First, I thought it was fine but the more I was getting into makeup the more I really didn't like it. I remember it looked really bad on my skin right upon application and it was budging like crazy no matter what primer I used. I think it used to be about medium coverage.

Looking now at the newer version, I think it already looks a lot better when I apply it. It looks more skin-like and I'm willing to sacrifice coverage in exchange for a good natural finish foundation. It has medium coverage, it's plenty for me personally and I don't think it's that much of a difference compared to the original formula. It went on really smooth and well with both sponge and brush. I also recall that it used to look quite dry and this new formula doesn't have that problem. Sure, my skin is different than it was years ago but it's still something to note.

Wear test

I wore this foundation for a whole day and also went into the gym with it. I don't enjoy doing that because you really shouldn't work out with your makeup on as it messes up your skin really badly. But well, I at least tested it properly.

I applied half of my face with a brush and half with a sponge. There was really no noticable difference between the sides. I liked them both and the coverage was the same on both sides as well.

Wear time 10 hours

Honestly, I expected way worse. I couldn't keep the makeup on any longer because I got really sweaty at the gym. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the longevity of this foundation. I will have to test it a little more but I think that it looks way better than the previous version. It wasn't really separating anywhere, only a couple patches on my forehead where I got really sweaty and I was touching my face there. That is acceptable. Also there was no budging or weird pigmentation of other products happening. I was surprised with the results. Based on the previous experience with the Fit Me! foundation I wasn't expecting much to be honest.

Final thoughts

It's funny getting back to the products you used to use back at the day. I grew as a person and this foundation grew as a product in the best way possible. I like this new formula waaaaaay more than I liked the original. This one looks way more natural, has pretty much the same high-medium coverage and looks very nice. It's also very affordable and if you struggle to get a good match, this might be the foundation for you. Also considering that you have normal to oily skin. If you have dry skin, you might want to mix this one with oil or use very hydrating products underneath.

It lasts well, it's not the most longlasting foundation but it can do a workday and maybe a little afterparty if you touch up a little bit. It plays well with cream products and all powders I've tried with it and it also applies very well with any tool of your choosing. I really enjoy wearing it now in the summer because my skin is oilier than normal. Also it's not an insanely high coverage foundation to the point where you have to keep an eye on your flawless-almost-mask-looking face and you can just get away with little flaws when you touch your face. Thanks to the skin-like finish.

Overall, I would recommend this if you struggle to find a good match or a good foundation for your oily skin within a small budget. Also if you're starting with makeup, this might be a good choice.
