It's finally happening! Fenty Skin recently arrived into Sephora and I am HERE FOR IT. Let's dive into the three products from the first launch and see if I get as blown away as I got with Fenty Beauty.
Fenty Skin has been around for a minute, it's a skincare brand of Rihanna as the name suggests. It was an exclusive brand just for their eshop but thankfully it's now at Sephora all over the globe. And I am really excited about it as a skincare enthusiast.
I purchased the Fenty Skin Total Cleans'r, Fat Water and the Hydra Vizor Moisturizer with SPF 30 which were the first three launched products. There is also a mini set with these three product available which I think is great if you don't want to invest in the full sized product right off the bat. Even the minis come in very decent sizes and the set retails for about 970 Crowns. Not let's look at the products one by one.
The Fenty Skin Total Cleans'r is a cleanser and makeup remover in one. It has creamy lather and removes longwear makeup, impurities, dirt and anything else from the face without striping the skin. It's clean, cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, non-comedogenic, and it has recycable packaging. Speaking of the packaging, I love it so much. The lid kind of snaps, doesn't come off and the product goes out through a hole in the middle. Very convinient. It has a peachy tint and smells amazing. The full size retails for 620 Crowns and you get 145ml of product.
The Fenty Skin Fat Water is a toner/serum hybrid. It has the same smart packaging where the lid doesn't come off all the way and it's also clean, cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, non-comedogenic, and it has recycable packaging. It has a very interesting texture, it is like a serum/water but not liquidy type of product. It refines the look of pores, helps with dark spots, evens skintone and also hydrates. It should also help with oil production. It smells very nice as well and I love how much you get. It retails for 680 Crowns and you get 150ml of product.
The Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Moisturizer with SPF 30 really got me excited because I love me a good SPF moisturizer. It comes with the outerpackaging and it is possible to just buy refills from then on. You just slide the refill capsule into the plastic tube and you're ready to go. You just twist the bottom, the pump goes up and you can twist it back down so it doesn't make a mess. The formula is very interesting, it's pretty lightweight, slightly lilac and smells nice. It's clean, cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, non-comedogenic and refillable. It should provide protection and hydration and it also promises to leave out the white cast most SPFs have. It's also promised to work well with makeup. It retails for 920 Crowns, the refills are 790 Crowns and you get 30ml.
I love how the brand focuses on the environment and also on the inclusion of everyone. Especially for people with deeper skintones it's really hard to find an SPF that doesn't wash them out and makes that white cast. They also focus heavily on the ingredients and many of them are inspired by the things found on Barbados where Rihanna was born.
The products are high-end so the prices are higher as you would expect. However, compared to other brands offered in Sephora it's not really that bad. I do not own a cleanser that is this expensive but I am willing to spend this much for a good toner/serum for sure. Especially if it works. Here I took a little shot in the dark but I've been reading the reviews and following the brand for a long time so I was pretty sure that I'm going to enjoy these products.
I must say that the packaging got me really excited before I even started using any of these. The fact that you don't have to screw away anything and it all just works so well without any unneccessary components and it's recyclable. I was stoked. I also really like that the products (Total Cleans'r, Fat Water) don't come in any extra packaging.
First impressions
I used all the products for the first time and here are my first impressions. I am really in love with the packaging, everything smells great and I am a big fan of the textures. Now let's look at each of the products.
Total Cleans'r
I tried using the cleanser on a full face of glam makeup to see if it really removes all makeup. I did apply waaaay too much though so my eyes were stinging like crazy. I didn't really know what to expect but a little goes a really long way. You need like a pea-size amount to really get the whole face. This cleanser lathers like crazy as well.
It did remove everything including the mascara and my face felt really nice after using it. It doesn't strip the skin and the lather is so nice and creamy. It's just a joy to use. I love the packaging as well. I like to keep my cleansers in the shower and I love that you don't have a cap just laying around the bathroom when you want to use it. It's just so practical.
Fat Water
I am a great toner enthusiast and I was really excited to try this product. I has incredible consistency, it's a like a thinner serum and it's not runny at all. I applied way too much the first time, you really need just a little bit as it spreads out like a dream. It feels very nice on the skin, a little bit like an essence.
I did use it on its own but I can imagine myself use this after an exfoliating toner as a double toner action. My skin was GLOWING after I used it. It makes you look very nice and plump and hydrated and I think even the pore claim is true. My pores did look more tight for sure.
Hydra Vizor Moisturizer
I love a good SPF and yes, I do wear SPF every single day at least in one product. It's hard to find good SPF formula that works well with your other skincare and makeup and doesn't pill up and doesn't stink. This one checks all my marks so far.
It's very lightweight and makes you look nice and dewy but not oily. It's a little bit more oily than my favorite SPF moisturizer from Revolution but it's nothing tragic. I did apply makeup right after and everything worked together beautifully. I like the smell of it as well.
After a month of using...
I've been using all three products for a month and in combination with my other skincare items. I really need a little more high maintanence routine then a three step one. Let's see how I feel about the products after a month of using them.
Total Cleans'r
I've been using this cleanser on and off for about a month. I really like the texture and the lather because it's very creamy, foams up a bit but not too much. My skin feels great after using it and it smells really nice. I've been also using the cleanser with my Foreo Luna Fofo and it works really well. It's very non-stripping so you can easily use it with a cleansing brush or another tool without any problems.
You really need just a pea sized amount of it and it cleanses the whole face like nothing. The scent is quite strong and when I use it with my Luna it smells like the cleanser for a couple days. But I don't really mind, I just thought I might mention it if you're scent sensitive.
I tried removing makeup with it a couple times but it does sting my eyes a little bit and I still like to use cleansing balm a bit more. So it's usually a second step in my double cleansing. That doesn't mean that it doesn't work though. It does remove the makeup pretty well, I just prefer different textures for makeup removing.
Fat Water
This product really made it into my everyday routine, it's just great and very versatile. Sometimes I use it as a toner when I cleanse before my skincare routine or I use is as a second toner if I use an exfoliating one. Sometimes I will use is as a hydrating serum. I also used it a couple times with my Foreo Bear Mini as it has that nice glide.
It works really well, it soaks in completely and leaves your skin feeling very moisturized. I also feel like it does actually effect my pores a bit, they look slightly smaller after using it. But we all know that effect won't stay because no skincare is really a miracle. But still, I like the effect.
Hydra Vizor Moisturizer
I've been using this moisturizer majority of the mornings during the last month. I wear some form of SPF every day and this one is really nice. It doesn't pill up when don't put makeup on top, it gives me a nice glow and doesn't look ghostly and when I wear makeup it goes on really well. It didn't really clash with any of my primers and it smells like candy. It certainly made it into my top SPFs to wear on the daily.
Final thoughts
I was very excited about Fenty Skin coming to Sephora and I still have to use their night cream. But I would say that the products did exceed my expectations. They are really nice products and as a skincare enthusiast I am really glad I have all these in my collection. The packaging is amazing and well made, the textures and scents and overall the vibe of the brand is just really impressive to me. All the products are well made and have some really good thoughts behind them.
If I was to recommend one of these it would be the Fat Water because of the texture and the versatility. I feel like everyone should use a hydrating toner. No matter what, really. But overall I love all three of these products.
They are pricey but not quite as much as some other skincare brands on Sephora. If you feel like trying these out you can always buy the mini set, which comes with these three products in quite decent mini sizes and doesn't break the bank so much. If you don't know what to do with your skincare routine, get these. If you have you skincare routine figured out and love trying new products, get these. Just get these, I think you won't be disappointed.
