It's not everyday that you get a green pallete...and it's not everyday that you order from Colourpop.
I love Colourpop as a brand but it's difficult to get ahold of their products in Europe in general. The shipping is expensive, if you get free shipping because you spend enough, you pay a lot for the customs. It's just a big money loosing loop for me. But I couldn't resist and I placed an order some time ago. And of course I had to get one of the 9-pan monochromatic palletes. They have plenty of those in all different tones and colours, but I just gravitated torwards the green.
Just My Luck pallete is a fully green pallete, which I absolutelly love. I've never seen a pallete like this because I think people are a little too scared by green. I've been loving green lately because it's not an overused colour. Nobody really comes up with green eyeshadow palletes and lip products, so I was excited by picking up this one.
There are 9 shades and it retails for $12, which is a very fair price. The packaging is plastic with a nice mirror and feels quite sturdy. I like the size of it as well. It's nice and sleek. Also, Colourpop is cruelty-free and this pallete is also vegan.
The swatches online and overall the look of the pallete online is very nice and attractive to me. But in person, it all looks about 50 times better. The shimmers are unreal. And the matte colours have such unique undertones the photos cannot make it justice. I was obsessed by it the minute I opened it.
I have used this pallete a several times now and I'm really impressed by the quality of Colourpop eyeshadows. For the price they perform just incredibly. They blend well, don't go on patchy, last all day and look very true to the pan colour, which is not always the case even with more expensive shadows.
The shade selection is so well thought through in my opinion. You have a softer blending shade, popping shimmers, medium and deep mattes to structure the eye look...just everything you need for a full look. Also, you can use just a couple shades to bring a nice green hue to any smokey eye or any eye look you make.
The shade descriptions are on the Colourpop website and I probably couldn't describe them better. It says that there's a matte and a shimmer finish in the pallete. From what I can tell there's also a matte base shadow with tiny glitters, which is very beaufitul.
The swatches look like a good representation of the colors but the shade Charmed is just impossible to swatch. It's very dry to the touch but the most incredible deepening color ever made. See, swatches aren't everything. Also Mary Jane is the most beautiful radiaactive yellow-green neon shimmer I've even seen...and my phone just doesn't care and doesn't show it. Well, let's put them on my eyes now.
The looks
I usually try to do multiple looks when I review a pallete to try as many eyeshadows as possible. In this case, I did 5 looks as usual and managed to use all the shades in the pallete at least once. I really appreciate the blendability of the mattes and also the application of the shimmers. They perform so well with a brush. Not many formulas work well with a brush.

I didn't even plan taking a picture of this one, but I managed to do so. I just wanted a little something when going to the store. Since we all have to wear a mask, at least the eyes can impress these days.
I wanted to go very smokey and maybe I should've gone in with a transition shade first, but I went in with Charmed straight up. It took a lot of blending to get it where I wanted it. I difused the edges slightly with Chances are... and continued deepening outer corner with Charmed. Once the depth of the olive-brown and the shape was alright, I took Olive U on a flat brush and applied it all over the lid. I went in back with Charmed and scratched the transition between this shade and the shimmer to get a nice gradient on the lid. Then I use the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Lime and smoked the liwer lashline below this pencil with Charmed again. I added black winged liner and a bit of mascara to finish off the look.
The look it very focused on one shade, but I really like the depth of this color with the olive shimmer. The shimmers apply amazingly with a brush, but of course finger will work as well. I had a little trouble blending because I went in with a super dark shade on wet base. But I overall really enjoy this look because it's very simple.
Look 2
I've been doing halo eyes for a very long time and it used to be my go-to eye look for the longest time. This one is not particularly my top work, just because I would usually go with something even more bright in the center. Still, I really like how it turned out.
I started with Kiss My Hass in the crease and around the whole lid to lay down the gradient. Then I went a little deeper below that shade with Act Natural. Building the crease takes quite a bit of blending, so don't be lazy. Then I took a very small blending brush and continues even deeper, in the eye socket pretty much, with Mo Bamba. I used a little bit of almost white concealer to emphasise the halo eye shape. You can just go in with the shimmer and skip this step, but I wanted more definition. On the concealer, I applied Mary Jane in a generous amount. Then I took a very small detail shader brush and diffused the edges of the halo with Mo Bamba. Then I used the same shade to deepen the inner and outer corner. I then used a little bit of Act Natural on my lower lashline and put a bit of Mary Jane in the inner corner.
Look 3
A matte glam cut-crease look can be really beautiful even without any shimmers involved. The lightest shade in this pallete was just screaming at me to put on a cut-crease, so I just had to. This look took incredible time to blend to be honest. But I'm quite happy with the result.
So first, I built the crease so we have something to cut. I started with Kiss My Hass, continued a little lower with Act Natural, then with Mo Bamba to build that gradient from crease down. Then I took Mo Bamba and Charmed and built depth in the outer corner and also defined that winged out shape. All this consists of a ton of blending and going back and forward with all the colors and different brushes. But once you're happy with the color and the blend, you can cut the crease. I cut about two thirds in with a concealer. I set the concealer with Chances Are... and to do so you need to make sure that the cut is really sharp since we're not putting anything on top of the cut-crease edge. If you want to put glitter or something else there, you don't have to be 100% precise. I then took a small blending brush with Mo Bamba and Act Natural and scratched the edge between the lid shade and the deepend outer corner to create the right transition on the lid. I then went in with a little bit of brown liner in my waterline and smoked it out with Act Natural and Kiss My Hass.
Look 4
This type of a look is sometimes used in fashion shows and places like that. I love doing these shimmery stark defined winged looks because they are actually pretty simple to make and they look very impressive.
I always work from the inner corner on a look like this. So, first I packed on Big Banks on the first half of my lid making sure that the top edge is as far up as I want it and also smooth. If you feel like it needs a little blend, you can take a tiny brush and just scratch the line and it will diffuse it just enough. We don't want this look to be too diffused though. The I took 50-50 on the same flat brush and packed it on the outer half of the lid. Then with a tiny flat brush, I took 50-50 and defined the outer portion of the winged shape. This part is probably the most tricky, because you want the shape to be even on moth sides. After being happy with the shape I took the brush and filled in the rest of the outline with 50-50. You can go back and forward between the two shimmers and more the gradient where you want it. You can also add more colors into it, it's all up to you. Then I used a bit of dark purple liner in my waterline and smoked it out with Act Natural on a very small pencil brush.
Look 5
How did I not do a smokey eye yet? This is one of my go-to eye looks with every pallete, that has deep enough shades. I love a good gradient smokey eye especially in color like green or blue. I added a wing to this look because it doesn't seem as self-standing on my eye shape as the other looks I did.
I started with packing Mo Bamba all over the lid, keeping the edge as clean as possible for easy blending later. After the opacity was sufficient, I took a pointed blending brush and worked on the edges with a tiny bit of Act Natural on the brush. Blending is crucial for this look, so take your time everytime you do it. Then I continued the gradient with more Act Natural and Kiss My Hass blending upwards. For this look I went with a rounded shape, but you can certainly alter the shape however you feel like. After the blend was done and the gradient looked smooth, I packed 50-50 on the lid a little bit and blended the edges to give the look a little shimmer. I applied a nude pencil into the waterline to brighten the eyes a little bit and smoked under it with Mo Bamba and Kiss My Hass.
Final thoughts
I am very glad I ordered from Colourpop and I had the oppoturnity to try their eyeshadows and actually get an idea about the quality and everything else. I love this pallete. There aren't many green palletes on the market, so this one is probably your best bet if you're into these shades of green. They also have a mint pallete, which I am currently expecting in the mail and will probably review as well.
The shadows are great quality, the price is great, the performance is great, the only downside is the whole shipping process. Depending on the country, it's a bit pricey and a bit expensive to get the Colourpop products you want. However, they always have free shipping on orders above a certain amount of money spent, so look out for that.
I would absolutelly recommend Colourpop shadows and I believe that green shades are pretty hard to make, so I can imagine, that the other palletes perform possibly even better! The whole monochromatic vibe is really cool and I really enjoy using this pallete.
Have you tried any Colourpop eyeshadows? Let me know what are your experiences with them and thanks for reading!
